Jingle in July
Lots of people are thinking about bathing suits and poolside parties – it’s summer, after all! But at the Arthritis Foundation and SMOC, we’re thinking about the Jingle Bell Run/Walk, a fun holiday, family friendly event that features a 5k and a 1k fun run for kids! Held on Saturday, December 2nd, the Jingle Bell Run/Walk also includes costume contests and plenty of festivities – all to raise funds for arthritis research, advocacy efforts and resources.
Interventional Pain Patient Education Event
Over 250 people attended our Interventional Pain Patient Education Event last week at the Hilton Garden Inn in Harbourview. This event was graciously sponsored by Boston Scientific.
SMOC welcomes Dr. Nicolai Baecher to our Suffolk office!
Dr. Nicolai Baecher is brand new to our practice this month, and specializes in hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery. Dr. Baecher chose to specialize in hand surgery for its complexity. With 29 bones and 34 muscles at work to move your fingers and thumb, you can imagine there’s a lot of variety and intricacy in the kind of surgeries Dr. Baecher performs.

New Chesapeake Location Grand Opening Reception
Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center celebrated the grand opening of our newest location Thursday night with a reception well-attended by the practice’s founders and staff, as well as members of the community. The night was filled with tours and talks from SMOC’s leadership about the vision for the new location.
New Center Offers Patients Easy Access to Orthopaedic Care, Pain Management and Rehab Therapy
>At the end of October, a new type of orthopaedic center opens in Chesapeake – one that integrates patient feedback for more services, easier access and more privacy. Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center is already established in the area, and will combine three of its offices into a state-of-the art center in Chesapeake.
Orthopaedic Surgeons Connect, Collaborate and Care
Dr. Samuel Brown has been elected president of the Southern Orthopaedic Association. The SOA exists to circulate research, encourage scholarship and connect colleagues. Membership offers the chance to keep up with a fast-changing field and the chance to build your network. Conferences include continuing medical education, research papers, posters and presentations from medical residents.
Signage goes up in Chesapeake!
We are getting closer and closer to the opening of our new SMOC location in Chesapeake! There is nothing like watching our signage go up on the building to make it become real. We can not wait to welcome our first patients into Chesapeake’s State-Of-The-Art Spine and Treatment Facility.
