Andrew Lopata, PA-COrthopedic Team
Andrew grew up not far from the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. He resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, and they have one cat named Hopper who was found wandering the streets as a kitten in a small Kansas town. He earned his undergraduate degree at Gannon University and received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Mary Baldwin University.
As a former collegiate athlete, originally started his education as a sport and exercise science major. He focused on physical therapy and rehabilitation. As he furthered his education, he realized he wanted to be more medically focused. He has always been drawn to sports and the medical care behind them. He had several injuries and setbacks in his own athletic ventures. These experiences fueled his desire to give other athletes a quality healthcare experience and get them back to competition in a way that will allow them to maximize their potential.
Andrew is very meticulous, and he communicates well with his patients. He actively listens to their concerns and allows them to guide their visit. He prioritizes their goals in developing a treatment plan best suited for their unique needs. Andrew has worked as a physician assistant in diverse clinical areas including Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Urgent care, and Emergency Medicine. He was drawn to SMOC because of a high level of pride its providers taken in focusing on both patient and provider health and wellbeing. When he’s not working, he enjoys anything that allows him to be outside, such as snowboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, and hiking.
