A retired U.S. Navy Captain, Dr. Iiams now has an active orthopaedic
practice in the Chesapeake and Suffolk areas, and specializes in
hand surgery. A published author and presenter at professional association
meetings and symposia, he also acts as an orthopaedic surgery consultant
to the VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA. After 5 years of active
naval service, Dr. Iiams earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia
Medical School as part of a Navy Scholarship Program. He continued
his naval service as an orthopaedic surgeon, heading up the Orthopaedic
Surgery Department at Roosevelt Roads Naval Hospital in Puerto Rico,
and later acting as the Director of both the Hand Surgery Division
and Sports Medicine Service at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in
Virginia until 1998. With the addition of Dr. Iiams special
expertise, we are able to expand the breadth and depth of orthopaedic
care provided by the Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, Inc.
