David G. Goss, MD
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Specializing in the Operative
and Non-Operative Management of Spinal Disorders and Injuries
Dr.
Goss is a native of Hampton Roads, born in Newport News, VA. He attended the University of Virginia, completing his undergraduate studies in 1991, and his medical degree in 1995. He then began his postgraduate orthopaedic training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. After a general surgery internship, he continued his training in orthopaedics, completing his orthopaedic surgery residency in 2000. After successfully completing his board examination, he then
traveled to Australia to study spine surgery under Professor Robert
Fraser in Adelaide, South Australia, and completed a one-year spinal
surgery fellowship in 2001.
He
now returns to Hampton Roads to practice orthopaedics. His professional
interests include all aspects of spinal disorders and injuries.
Degenerative and traumatic disorders of the cervical, thoracic,
and lumbar spine, scoliosis,infection, and spinal deformity are
all included. During his fellowship, he indulged several research
interests, including prevention and treatment of discitis, and evaluation
of anterior interbody fusion devices. He participated in international
research trials evaluating the effectiveness of both intradiscal
electrothermal therapy (IDET), and total disc replacement in the
management of lower back pain. Dr. Goss has been extensively trained
in new techniques to treat disorders of the entire spine, including
IDET, facet rhizolysis, interbody fusions, and total disc replacement
surgery. Dr. Goss also provides in-office Epidurals and Vertebroplasty.
