Anthony J. DiStasio, II, MD

Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Specializing in Trauma, Arthroscopy
and Joint Replacement
Dr. DiStasio earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology at The College
of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. After earning his medical degree
at Georgetown University he completed a general surgery internship
at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. He spent a two year
tour on board the helicopter carrier, USS Saipan as the ship's medical
officer. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at the
Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA he became a faculty staff
member and the academic program director. There he served as co-director
of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Division. After fellowship training
in orthopaedic traumatology at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore,
Maryland, he served as director of the Orthopaedic Traumatology
Division at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth. His experience
in Navy orthopaedics included advanced arthroscopic surgeries of
the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle.
Since leaving the Navy in 1995 he has been serving the orthopaedic
needs of the Chesapeake and Suffolk communities. He is a fellow
of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member
of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has published
and presented extensively on orthopaedic trauma and advanced surgical
techniques. His main areas of focus include arthroscopic and reconstructive
surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee as well as complex
fracture management.
Outside of the office or operating room he is the team physician
for local youth high school and college teams. Interests include
fishing, golf and skiing. He is a volunteer at the Stratton Mountain
Ski Clinic in Vermont and member of Bennett's Creek Sertoma.
