OUR DOCTORS
Anthony J. DiStasio, II, MD
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
“The benefits of smaller incisions, less pain and more rapid recovery are becoming increasingly clear.”
Dr. Anthony DiStasio is focused on getting people through the pain of trauma.
After earning his medical degree from Georgetown University, Dr. DiStasio earned his stripes as the medical officer aboard the USS Saipan, and went on to advance the orthopaedic surgery and pediatric orthopaedics programs at the Naval Medical Center (NMC) in Portsmouth.
He received his fellowship training at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and then returned to NMC as director of the Orthopaedic Traumatology Division.
Dr. DiStasio joined SMOC with extensive orthopaedic experience in advanced arthroscopic surgeries, and is the first physician to perform minimally invasive total knee replacement in southeast Virginia. He continually introduces new technologies, including the Journey Deuce Bi-Compartmental Knee System, a type of knee replacement that allows faster recovery time with less pain and stiffness.
A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. DiStasio is considered one of the region’s leading “trauma experts,” and has focused his active practice on complex fracture
management and the care of trauma patients with multiple injuries.
If it is badly broken, Dr. DiStasio works to fix it, and with as minimally invasive surgery as humanly possible.
